British Cycling is the third largest
contributor to the influential cycling campaigning group the CPAG
(Cyclists' Public Affairs Group). The lobbying work we are involved in
on
their behalf and on behalf of all cyclists goes relatively un-noticed,
but
we hope to be able to keep you more up to date in the future through
both
this newsletter and the British Cycling website. The CPAG lobbies in
Westminster and in Whitehall on behalf of 7 nationally significant
cycling
organisations, to bring the cycling viewpoint to opinion-formers and
decision-makers. It works with Ministers, Civil Servants and all those
in
public sectors whose remit is relevant to the needs of cyclists.
The CPAG members are:
· the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT,
representing cycle retailers)
· the Bicycle Association (representing the
UK's cycle manufacturers)
· British Cycling (the UK's
governing
body for cycle sport)
· CTC (formerly the Cyclists' Touring Club)
· the Cycle Campaign Network (representing
local cycle campaign groups)
· the London Cycling Campaign (representing
London's cycle users)
· Sustrans (the charity promoting
sustainable
transport practical projects, including the National Cycle
Network
