TOUR OF BRITAIN
Over the last week Go-Ride activities have
been delivered at each of the stage finishes of the Tour of Britain
cycle
race.
Local Go-Ride clubs provided 30 teams of 6
riders who competed head to head on a specially designed Go-Ride
activity
on the finish straights in Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Newport
and
Westminster.
Over 180 young people took part in the
activities, which were delivered by a team of Coaching and Club
Development Officers and British Cycling qualified
coaches.

‘Go for Gold’
Following the Great Britain Cycling Team’s
Olympic success the Coaching and Club Development team also
co-ordinated
the ‘Go for Gold’ programme this weekend. The aim of the programme was
to
provide as many opportunities as possible for young people to get
involved
in Go-Ride activities linked to the Olympic cycling
disciplines.
Volunteers from 42 Go-Ride registered clubs
organised ‘Go for Gold’ events which attracted over 1200 young people,
all
of whom received coaching from British Cycling qualified
coaches.
Hetton Hawks CC is a Go-Ride registered club
based in the North East and coach Tony Hodgson said, “We ran a ‘Go for
Gold’ event on Saturday and as a result of this initiative we have
signed
up several new members.”
Halesowen will be stage 1 talent
team
testing for bike riders from the West Midlands who are interested
in
talent team membership for
2005.
All you need
is
your bike and a helmet.
The tests
will

British Cycling is the National Governing
Body
for cycle sport in the UK.
Based at offices in the Velodrome, we are looking for an
enthusiastic individual to join our small administration team. As Receptionist/Administrator
you are the first point of contact for callers and visitors to British
Cycling, involving switchboard and reception duties. You will also provide
administrative support to the senior administrator including sending
and
receiving faxes, filing, sorting and distributing mail, and providing
general office assistance.
Numerate and literate, with sound knowledge and experience of
Microsoft applications, you must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience
in
a similar supporting role and be able to demonstrate impeccable
standards
of presentation, attention to detail and service
delivery.
This role covers our normal office hours,
which are 8.45 - 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45 - 3.45 pm
Friday.
Holidays are 20 days per year (pro rata),
with
membership of the pension scheme offered on completion of 6 months’
service.
