Over 200
riders
have now entered the ManchesTour, but amazingly only 30 of these are
current BC members, so there is still time for members to have a
cycling
day out with their families on what is a quiet day in the BC Racing
Calendar.
Lucozade Sport will be manning
three fuelling performance stations for the ManchesTour. One is
situated
at the Sportcity start and finish, and also at Greenfield after 27kms
point for all groups and another station at Holmbridge - the Sport
riders
reach this point at 45kms and Endurance riders and the 60kms
point. British Cycling’s Neutral
Service crews will also be present at the start, and will then move out
on
the course to the Lucozade Sport fuelling stations to help participants
with mechanical problems.
The Go-Ride skills test will be staged, for 8 to 16 year old
participants in the Tour of Sportcity - the traffic free family bike
ride,
and other visitors can enter the Go-Ride skills test in the finish
area.
There is no charge for this. Bikes and helmets can be provided for this
activity by the Go-Ride Coaches. Go-Ride will be active between
10.00-14.00hrs, and parents, friends and family can challenge each
other
to see who has the cycling skills in the household!
Entries can
be
made on line - there is a reduced price for BC members – follow the
links
from the homepage, news page and results page on the
britishcycling.org.uk
website.

BRITISH CYCLING BOARD
VACANCIES AND ELECTIONS
British Cycling is looking for people with
knowledge of the sport together with experience and skills in business
or
in life to take up voluntary positions on the Board. Three places on
the
Board are due for election at National Council on 27 November this
year.
One is vacant, and the other two are currently held by former pro
Justin
Clarke and Welsh Cycling Union President Bill Owen both of whom may be
standing for re-election.
British Cycling President Brian Cookson said "It is not
necessary
to be a long-serving official, though of course we have many good
examples
who are contributing massively. We also need people with experience of
business and professional life, who have good judgement, vision,
integrity
and a capacity to contribute to the governance of the organisation in a
positive and creative way. There are many people out there who could
make
a real contribution to the development of our sport and we want to
encourage them to put their names forward for this important role in
the
organisation". Division and Organisations with direct representation on
National Council will be asked to make nominations and the Board itself
may make nominations. Anyone wishing to be considered for a direct
nomination by the Board should contact Melanie Knowles at BC
Headquarters
(0161 2742037) for details of the required format.
