For cycling fans wanting to see the best British
road
racers then they will be riding in the British National Road Race
Championships at Celtic Manor, Newport South Wales 26th and 27th
June. Nicole Cooke is a
hot
favourite to retain her British title on home soil, whilst in the men's
race the British Olympic stars Hammond, Wegelius, Winn and Hunt can all
be
seen before they set off for Athens. The men's race will be broadcast
live
by cycling.tv to a 40 Square Metre screen at the race venue so you can
watch all the race action from out on the course live. The big screen
sited at, and sponsored by Celtic Manor Resort will be fed by five
cameras, including motor bike and helicopter mounted
cameras.
With one round to go in British Cycling's Premier
MTB
National Points series (NPS) Cross Country, the Club La Santa holiday
prizes have been hotly contested. The World's premier sporting leisure
resort in Lanzarote has vacation prizes for Cross Country Mountain
Bikers
in the new Premier MTB series, and the winners in XC Expert and Sport
categories, two male and two female prizes will each win a week at the
Canary Island resort on the well established MTB week. Top of the pile
is
Sport Woman rider Pip Lansdown (Alltrax) who has a perfect score of 3
wins
from 3 rides, giving her a maximum of 180 points. Club La Santa cycling
weeks for MTB, Road and Cyclo Cross are early in 2005, can be booked
through the Sports Tours International website –

TAKING THE STABILIZERS OFF YOUR
CHILD'S
BIKE? CHANNEL 4 WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
Class Films, a television production company based
in
London, is making three short films on cycling for Channel 4 to go out
next month in the days running up to the Tour de France. One of the
films
is being based on a Road pro and another is on Steve Norris. Mr Norris
was
the Conservative candidate for London Mayor and is also a keen cyclist.
They are planning to base the third film on a child who is about to
take
the stabilizers off their bike to try and ride unassisted for the first
time. If you have a child who is about to take the plunge, call Sean
Hancock on 020 7864 9932 or email on
sean.hancock@classfilms.co.uk .

ON
PERFORMANCE IN ELITE CYCLISTS

University of Glamorgan and is part-funded by British Cycling. Working

individual who wishes to gain a higher degree and pursue a career in
Elite
Sport. In addition to his/her PhD studies, the successful candidate
will
be encouraged to develop applied sports science skills by working with
elite athletes. For
further
information about this studentship opportunity please contact Dr Louis

So far only just sufficient numbers have been
received
to run the Women's Events in 2004 BC National Masters Track
Championships
to be held at Herne Hill South London - 9th - 11th July. However for
full
medal awards more Women are needed to appear on the line for each
Championship. Although the closing date has gone, the Organiser Graham
Bristow is prepared to accept further female entries for these
Championships providing he hears from them by Sunday evening (27th
June)at
the latest. Graham can be contacted by Phone (0208 776 1127) or e.mail
(grahambristow@hernehilltrack.fsnet.co.uk ). Championships up for grabs in 5 or 10
year
age bands depending on the number of starters are Sprint, 500m Time
Trial,
Pursuit, Points Race and Scratch Race. The consistently poor women's
entry
levels since the inception of these Championships three years ago now
seriously jeopardises their future.
