COACHING AWARDS LAUNCHED - COACH EDUCATION PROGRAMME UNVEILED
Coaching is at the heart of cycling performance at every level, from learning bike handling skills in a school or club through to training for the Olympic Games. Coaching and participation in sport can affect attitudes, lifestyles, physical development and confidence. As a coach you can convert a child’s interest in riding a bike for fun, into a lifetime’s commitment to recreational or competitive cycling, or coach a more experienced cyclist to compete at regional, national or international level. The British Cycling Coach Education Programme can show you how to accomplish this. The following courses are open to anyone who wants to get involved with cycling coaching. No experience in cycling or coaching is required.
The 2005 course programme includes our successful Level 2 Coaching Award (Activity Coach) and Club Coach Award courses, along with two new courses, the Level 1 Coaching Award and the Activity Coach Award for Teachers.
The Level 1 Coaching Award is a two-day introductory coaching award aimed at people new to cycling and/or coaching. Coaches completing this award will have the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct safe and enjoyable cycling activity sessions for young people and beginners.
The Activity Coach Award for Teachers is a one-day coaching course aimed at people with Qualified Teacher Status. Teachers completing this award will increase their cycling specific knowledge and skills, and be able to provide pupils in school with a positive cycling experience.
