WORLD AND NATIONAL MASTERS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS: LICENCE POINTS ALLOCATION

(British) Riders in age categories A-D will be automatically allocated BC licence ranking points for each Championship where they are placed in the first six. Riders from older categories can have their points credited to their records on request to BC HQ following these Championships. E-mail membership on membership@britishcycling.org.uk or tel 0161 274 2010. This is to avoid the situation whereby older riders may be upgraded to higher ability categories through receipt of licence where they are only competing against riders of a similar age.

ARCHER GP LOOKING GOOD

The Archer International Grand Prix (4 April) is an event that carries a lot of prestige and a large and classy international field has entered this first major event on the UK road calendar. A last minute entry by New Zealand for the Archer International GP on means that their track endurance riders will have a pre-World Cup match with GB. The Brits are led by Chris Newton who was 2nd last year, Steve Cummings who last week won the Mersey Roads Two day and Rob Hayles, who is coming into form. Other contenders include last year's winner, David O'Loughlin, David McCann and Tommy Evans, all from Ireland and  33 of the top 36 British riders in last year's Premier Calendar. Other favourites include Tony Gibb, Julian Winn, Malcolm Elliot and Mike Jones who showed great form in his first race of the year, the Severn Bridge. Planet-X/On-One teammates Mark Lovatt, John Tanner and Kevin Dawson have had a quiet start to the year but always come good in Premier Calendar events. The race starts at 11am from Hazlemere, near High Wycombe, and covers three laps of a 20-mile circuit via Gt Missenden, Cryers Hill, Hughenden Valley, Longdown, and Wendover. From there the race returns to the 5-mile Penn Street circuit which is covered seven times before the finish at Winchmore Hill village.

Virus Issues

As you may already be aware there has been a sharp increase in viruses (20%) over the last six months, with the most common being Mass Mailing Virus’s (Netsky, Bagle) with the characteristics as detailed below:

A great deal of home and mobile users have been infected with these viruses which email everyone in their address book and as illustrated above spoof the address they are coming from. This makes it difficult to find where the Email originates.

British Cycling is protected by the McAfee Virus Suite which is automatically updated everyday. If you feel you may have a Virus and feel you do not have the adequate virus protection to remove the Virus then please visit the site below and download Stinger Software:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

PLEASE NOTE: (Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations.)
