BRITISHCYCLING.ORG.UK

http://www.britishcycling.org.uk  this week includes plenty of news from the first round of the Track World Cup as GB riders set about qualifying for the World Championships and the Olympics. And of course there’s all the usual news, results, classifieds and photo galleries.

REVOLUTION 3 – MEGA-STARS ON SHOW

Next week’s (28 Feb) Revolution 3 Track Meeting at Manchester Velodrome is an absolute must-see event, with a unique opportunity to see French stars Arnaud Tournant and Florian Rousseau in action in this country. Tournant was virtually unbeatable in the Kilo until Jason Queally beat him at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. He remains the only man to have gone under a minute for the four laps and has ten world championship golds to his credit. Rousseau is perhaps the greatest match sprinter ever and with 10 world and two Olympic golds to his name. For the connoisseur, it’s a fantastic opportunity to compare these guys with the GB sprinters who will be going head to head with them in a Team sprint event. With plenty of other racing from endurance riders and future stars, it looks like being the best Revolution yet. And at just £6 a ticket, it’s just about the best value for money evening out you’ll find. Come along, bring your mates and just enjoy the buzz of being at a full velodrome. For further information on the race programme and riders attending please visit www.cyclingrevolution.com or call the information line on 0700 594 2579. Tickets are available in advance or can be purchased on the night from the Velodrome box office.

In other schools, children who have expressed an interest in cycling have been directed towards safe coaching activities within Go-Ride Registered Clubs. POWERCRANKS BANNED
You may have noted an article on pages 40 & 41 of the 10th January addition of Cycling Weekly Magazine above PowerCranks. This product allows the cranks to act independently of each other. All members should note that, in the interests of safety, the British Cycling Board has ruled that this equipment is banned with immediate effect for use in all competitions run under the regulations of British Cycling. It is the view of the Board that this equipment could compromise the handling capabilities of the cycle on which it is used. Members should note that this ruling does not refer to, and should not be confused with, SRM Powercranks.
