A note to all members and commissaires. It is
not British Cycling policy to refund members who take
out
day licences, in lieu of taking a full racing licence out, or if they
have
lost, misplaced or are not in possession of their full licence. It is
reminded that all members should apply for their racing licence well in
advance of their first race, ( at least two weeks) to ensure they get
their licence sent from their club in time for
the race.

NEWCASTLE TRACK GETS GRANT FOR REFURBISHMENT
Newcastle’s Lyme Valley track stadium has been awarded
£239,000 to re-furbish and upgrade the facility and workmen will soon
be
moving in to make the track into an international stage of which North
Staffordshire can be proud, thanks to Sport England funding. Chris
Pyatt,
who undertook much of the spade work for the funding along with fellow
international trackman Steve Cronshaw said:’ This will be a real shot
in
the arm for cycling in North Staffs and South Cheshire. We will be
aiming
to bring school children in provide sport for disabled and generally
involve the community. When I look back now, it is unbelievable that
this
time last year we were scratching around for ideas to raise money
towards
the track so this funding, part of a national programme funded by Sport
England for upgrading track facilities with the advice of British
Cycling,
came as a very welcome bolt from the blue.
SCOTTISH CROSS COUNTRY MTB
SERIES
The
2004 Scottish Cross Country MTB series kicks off this weekend (28/03)
at
Dalbeattie Forest in Dumfriesshire. The course involves some of the
well
known 7-Stanes trails - including an interesting twist on the Slab
secion
- plus loads of new single track sections including "The Widow Maker".
The
series then moves to Fort William in April - the famous Witches Trail.
Great opportunity to prepare for the World Cup and/ or the British
Champs,
both of which will be held on the same course later this year.

Please note the following changes of sessions at Manchester due to World Cup and GB Team Olympic Prep: As from April there will be no Vets SQT on Tuesdays. There will be no SQT on Saturday April 6th. The next Sprint SQT will be on March 31st @ 8pm.
The British Cycling Track Commission recently made a decision that the 2004 Under 12's National Track Series will be run on Free Wheel cycles. Subsequent correspondence received from the membership on this issue has led to a reversal of this decision. For 2004 therefore this series will once again be run on Fixed Wheel Track Bikes.
