100% PAYOUT FOR MEMBER THANKS TO BRITISH CYCLING LEGAL SUPPORT

British Cycling member, David Williams, who was injured in a collision with a car near Dover, has won 100% of his claim for damages after a trial before the Canterbury County Court on February 18th 2005, thanks to British Cycling’s solicitors Leigh, Day and Co. The collision took place in September 2003, when David was out on a training ride with a friend. He had been on a long ride around the Sandwich area and was returning to Dover along Singledge Lane in Whitfield.

A car pulled out of a drive suddenly and without looking. Both cyclists tried to avoid the car but David hit the front of it with his back wheel and ended up on the road. He pulled the tendons in his right shoulder, had cuts and scratches on his right leg and elbow and had damaged his clothing. The Judge found the driver responsible for the accident The driver denied any liability for the accident, but the Judge found him to be wholly responsible for the collision. The value of his claim for compensation was agreed between the parties.

David’s solicitor, Sue Bence said: “Although there were no independent witnesses to support either party’s version of events, at the trial the Judge clearly preferred the evidence of my client and his friend, who are both very experienced cyclists.” David’s claim was supported and funded by British Cycling. For more information or to discuss a possible claim please call 020 7650 1200.
