There’s plenty of action, indoors and out the Britishcycling.org.uk website this week. There’s a full round-up of all the action from the Track World Cup event in Manchester, which was a huge success, produced some great TV and was very well attended. Also, there are all the results from the National Cyclo-Cross Championships, plus numerous photos from a very wet and windy event, which produced some very interesting results.

MOLLY SWANN

We heard the sad news earlier this week that WCRA President and British Cycling stalwart Molly Swann had passed away. Molly’s contribution to the sport was immense, both as a rider and an administrator. We send our condolences to her family and friends.

RACING CALENDAR AND ONLINE CALENDAR

The year’s first issue of the Racing Calendar should be with most of you by now (gold members and other subscribers). As with every issue, a few will go missing in the post, so if you haven’t received yours by Friday of next week (21 Jan) call Membership Services on 0161 274 2010 and they will sort you out with another copy. In the meantime, the Road and Track calendar is now online at britishcycling.org.uk – look for the “Race Calendar” button on the homepage. Also online  are the MTB and BMX Calendars.

EVENT UPDATES

Every season we publish a detailed list of Road and Track Calendar updates – these are changes to the calendar as published in the Racing Calendar magazine. They are all published in this newsletter and added to special “Calendar Updates” sections of the online Calendar. Simply go to the www.britishcycling.org.uk website and hit the “Race Calendar” button for the full calendar index page, which includes links to the Calendar Updates pages.

2005 NATIONAL ELITE MEN’S CIRCUIT RACE SERIES FINALISED

Following a considerable interest, particularly from Town and City Councils, the line up of events for the 2005 National Elite Men’s Circuit Race Series has almost been settled – the series is as follows-

·         2 April - Bike Show Criteriums - Stoneleigh, Warwickshire

·         15 May - Crawley Criteriums

·         30 May - Colchester Town Centre Criteriums

·         5 June - Brentwood Town Centre Criteriums

·         14 June - Hillingdon GP Criterium

·         6 July -             Guildford Town Centre Circuit Races

·         10 July - Milton Keynes Town Centre Races

·         20 July - Colne GP (Lancs)

·         3 August - Clitheroe Town Centre Circuit Race (Lancs)

·         29 August - City Centre Circuit Race - TBC

·         4 September - Bob Chicken London Grand Prix - Westminster, London

·         10 September - Newport Nocturn (Shropshire)

·         18 September - The Travelwise Warwick Town Centre Races

A late withdrawal from this competition is the Bluewater Circuit Race due to have been promoted on 27th March. However this is  balanced by the addition of an extra event at Clitheroe on 3rd August. Each rider’s best seven rides will count towards the final overall standings.
