Week ending 15th June 2003

For the fourth week running Somerset RC/The Bicycle Chain were the best team in a time trial. The club hosted their own event on Saturday evening on the A30 near Honiton and club members took the first 3 places. Greg Sandy (Team Endurasport.com and SRC) won in a time of 20 mins 39 secs, having also won a 35 mile race earlier in the day at Thruxton. Andy Winterbottom was second in 21.06 and Jon Wynn third in 21.34. Tom Cox organised the event and still managed to sprint round in a time of 22.50. Martin Baxter, Richard Hill, Gary Pepper, Ray Pollard, Dominic Gallager and Jason Coles put in fine performances ranging from 24 to 25 minutes.

New members to the club also had success on their debut club time trial. Liz Sandy won the ladies event and in the under 16s event Max Perris came second and Chris Hill third.

There was more success for the club on Sunday morning in the Clevedon RC 50 mile time trial between Cross and Bridgwater. Jon Wynn won the event in a time of 1 hour 52 mins and 14 secs, setting a new course record by 20 seconds.
