Week ending 1st June 2003

For the second week in a row Somerset RC/The Bicycle Chain won the team prize in a time trial. This week it was the Clevedon RC 25 mile time trial on the U21 course at Shute Shelve. Jon Wynn won in a time of 55mins 14 secs and Andy Winterbottom was second in 55.42. Rick Johnston came in at 58.52; Tim Reeves at 1.00.01 and Mark Kurpyta at 1.01.57.

Tom Cox (SRC chairman) rode the Veteran Time Trial Association's National 30 mile Championships on the H8 course near Farnham. He finished a creditable 14th in 1.09.34. John Williams, another local rider, finished in 1.08.47.

Earlier in the week, on a very warm still Thursday evening, Greg Sandy (Team Endurasport and SRC) won the Exeter Wheelers' 25 mile time trial at Buckfastleigh in a personal best time of 52.16 (an average of nearly 29 mph). The second rider was over 90 seconds behind. Mark Kurpyta also rode very well to record a personal best of 58.39.
