Somerset RC/The Bicycle Chain riders retained Gold Medals with a convincing win in the West District 50 Mile Team Championship event at Falfield, north of Bristol at the weekend. Conditions on the tough U19 course were made more difficult with a SW breeze and intermittent showers. Jon Wynn claimed first place overall with a time of 1-55-41 and team mate Andy Winterbottom followed him home in 2nd place with a time of 1-58-54, the only 2 riders in the event to get under the 2 hour mark, from a field of 47 riders.

Martin Pearse helped secure the team prize with a time of 2-08-37 in 13th place, while club rider Tim Reeves rode a credible time of 2-11-49 in 17th place. In coming first, Wynn also holds the "Gold Flake Jubilee 50 Cup" for one year, a cup first awarded in 1935 to mark the Jubilee of King George V. Full result on www.bristolsouthcc.co.uk.
