And on Sunday, SRC/Bicycle Chain rider Andy Winterbottom won the WTTA Spring Shield with a time of 57-59 in the Bristol South CC 25 mile Time Trial on the A38 at Falfield near Bristol. His time placed him second overall from a 50 strong start sheet, just 7 seconds behind the overall winner, Darren Willetts (On the Edge RT). A strong headwind on the return leg and squally showers made for challenging conditions and this was reflected in the times, with just 3 riders managing to go under the hour. Strong performances from the other Somerset RC riders, Martin Pearse 1-04-07 and Leigh Pinchen 1-05-21, ensured the club won the prize for fastest team. Local rider James Hector posted 1-06-17.
