The weekend weather of heavy rain and strong gusty winds was not great for road cycling. Nevertheless, Somerset Road/The Bicycle Chain riders turned out in force. Saturday's time trial was a 19 mile hilly individual race at Frome on the U303 course. Rick Johnston was first in the over 50s category and came 7th overall, out of 63 riders, in a time of 47 minutes 52 seconds. The other times were Martin Pearse at 50.02; Leigh Pinchen at 52.11; Kevin Sayles at 53.04 and Greg Venn at 57.25.

Sunday's race was a 2 up time trial, run by Weston Wheelers, on the A38 from Cross to Brent Knoll. Tom Cox was the first of the SRC riders, riding with a partner from Northover Vets, in a time of 23 minutes 15 seconds. Martin Pearse and Leigh Pinchen were only 6 seconds behind. Mark Kurpyta and Tim Reeves finished just behind in 23.41 with Mark Gibbs and Kevin Sayles in 24.20.
