On Good Friday, Somerset Road Club/The Bicycle Chain riders took part in the Mid Devon CC Sporting 23 mile time trial at Bovey Tracey. The event was won by Nigel Polkinghorne of Exeter Wheelers in a fast time of 56 minutes 24 seconds. The times of the SRC riders were Leigh Pinchen at 1 hr 2 mins 25 secs, Martin Pearse at 1:03:05, Derek Henson at 1:07:30 and Greg Venn at 1:08:46.

The Sotonia
CC 10 mile time trial was held on Saturday 19th March on the P613 course (A303
Andover) on a sunny afternoon with slight warm breeze. This fast course produced
some very quick early season times with all the Somerset Road Club riders featuring
well.
The three SRC riders narrowly missed taking home the team prize but all finished
within the top third of the field. Rick Johnston finished 12th with 22-30, Mark
Kurpyta was 18th in 22-54, just ahead of Tim Reeves (19th) in 22-58.
SRC chairman Tom Cox (riding for Northover Vets) was 14th in 22-38 and was also
part of the winning team.
On Sunday 20th March, Greg Sandy won the North Devon Wheelers 'Hilly 28' time
trial near Barnstaple in a time of 1-13-42. The times of the SRC riders were:
Leigh Pinchen 1-24-07, Mark Kurpyta 1-24-26, Martin Pearse 1-26-16, John Dodgin
1-28-18, Pete Shelley 1-29-06, and Greg Venn 1-32-36.

Somerset Road Club/Bicycle Chain won the team prize on Saturday in the Gillingham & District Wheelers Hilly 19 Mile TT on the U303 course at Bruton. There was a very cold biting wind. The members of the winning SRC team were Rick Johnson in a time of 49 minutes and 41 seconds (3rd Vet & 6th overall), Leigh Pinchen in 51:03 (8th overall) and Derek Henson in 54:06. Greg Venn finished in 57:17.

The CS Dynamo
2-up 10 mile time trial was held on Sunday 6th March 2005 on the Honiton by-pass,
S26R course, on a gloriously sunny but cold morning.
3 Somerset Road Club teams took part and all three teams came away with honours.
With prizes awarded to several different categories, Tim Reeves and Mark Kurpyta
were the fastest Club pairing with a time of 23-49 and took 3rd team overall.
Leigh Pinchen and Martin Pearse took the '3rd Team with Vet award' with their
24-14 and, completing a good day for the SRC, Greg Venn and Derek Henson recorded
a 26-33 giving them the 'fastest team with rider over 40' award.
Greg Sandy and Neil Coleman were outright winners in a time of 21-40.

Meanwhile,
Tom Cox rode the Border CA 2 up 20 mile time trial with his long term 2 up partner
Jack Brown who is nearly 71, giving them a combined age of 122. They managed
to come 8th out of 46 teams. The time of 48.07 was good as they all rode in
a very nagging and cold wind.
